Rockford—Virginia M. Spoden, 87 of Rockford died Friday, August 1, 2014 at Wesley Willows nursing home. Born April 16, 1927 in Rockford, Il daughter of Theodore and Nora (Meyer) Splinter. Married Gilbert J. Spoden in St. Patrick Catholic Church on April 3, 1948. Virginia worked for S & B Jig Grinding as the bookkeeper retiring in 2005. A member of St. Bridget Catholic Church.
Survivors; Children; Nancy (Chuck) Beck of Rockton, Beth (Carl) Seaberg of Rockton and Mark (Erin) Spoden of Livermore, CA; Grandchildren; Mark Beck of Machesney Park, Chris Beck of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Greg (Carrie) Beck of Roscoe, Tia Seaberg of Rockton, Nick and Sean Spoden of Livermore, CA; Great Grandchildren; Kennedy and Kysa Beck; Sister-in-law's, Joan Rafferty and Marg Spoden; Best Friends, Jean and Dick Streit and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband, Gilbert; Daughter, Pam Spoden, Granddaughter, Kim Seaberg; Brother, Joe Splinter; Sisters, Eileen Bracke and Juanita Finley. Funeral Mass 10:30 am Friday, August 8, 2014 at St. Bridget Catholic Church 600 Clifford Avenue, Loves Park, Il with Fr. Christopher DiTomo officiating. Burial in Sunset Memorial Garden Cemetery. Visitation from 6 to 8 pm, Thursday, August 7, 2014 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory (Riverside Chapel) 3910 N. Rockton Avenue. With Rosary Service at 7:45 p.m. Visitation will continue Friday morning from 9:30 to 10:15 Friday morning at church.
